Beaumont Center is adding a Mexican Restaurant to its options of places to eat. The old Mark’s Feed store is now going to be Campestre Mexican Bar and Grill. The former restaurant closed in January after being open for about a year. It was originally an Applebee’s that closed a few years prior.

Spokesman Juan Aguirre said that the restaurant can open as early as the end of this year. “We’re really excited to be in Lexington,” Aguirre said. “We have restaurants in Virginia and West Virginia and were looking for a great place to grow our business. I think we have something different to offer the community.”

According to a building permit, the restaurant will be going under a $200,000 renovation.

Campestre will seat about 200 people, but there are no plans for an outdoor patio, Aguirre said. Hours of operation will be for lunch and dinner with a full menu of Mexican favorites such as burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, salads, and appetizers.

The restaurant is located by the main entrance off Harrodsburg Road and right next to the Beaumont Public Library.
